TechCrunch Reads Anthropic's IPO Filing for Its Enterprise Strategy

The S-1 shows customers starting on the API, then adding Claude Code and Cowork, with 11,900 accounts spending $100,000 or more.

Anthropic filed to go public with the SEC on Monday, October 26, and the document shows how it keeps business customers, according to TechCrunch. TechCrunch says customers typically start with the API, then adopt Claude Code for engineers and Cowork for the wider workforce.

The filing says more than half of customers spending at least $100,000 a year now use both the Claude platform and a first-party app, up from about 30% at the end of last year. As of September 30, Anthropic had over 11,900 customers at that level, over 1,900 spending $1 million or more, and about 250 spending $10 million or more.

Anthropic also sells through AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, holding the customer contract and paying each cloud a fee. TechCrunch notes the risks the filing flags: cloud partners increasingly see Anthropic as a competitor, and a few large customers account for much of the spending. Revenue for the first half of 2026 was $16.3 billion, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier.

Why it matters for your business

The filing shows AI vendors want to sell you a bundle: a model plus apps built on it. Before you commit, check what you would lose if you switched tools later, and keep your key documents and workflows portable.
