The 10 Best Time Tracking Apps for Small Business in 2026

From free plans to payroll-linked tools, with per-user prices checked on each maker's pricing page.

Time tracking pays for itself when it shows you which clients and tasks eat your hours, or when it keeps payroll honest. The right app depends on one question: do you need to bill clients by the hour, or clock staff in and out? Prices below are US dollars and change often, and the lowest ones usually need an annual commitment.

How we picked

On October 26, 2026, we opened each maker's pricing page to confirm the product is on sale and to record starting prices, free plan limits and key features. We cross-checked verdicts against TechRadar's best employee time tracking software guide and Zapier's best time tracking apps guide (updated February 2026). Neither guide covers every app here, so the notes on Everhour, Paymo, RescueTime, My Hours and QuickBooks Time come from the makers' own pages. Prices exclude taxes, and promotions can end.
